Small Scale Renewable Biogas Offsets

CCX has developed simple, standardized rules for issuing Carbon Financial Instrument® (CFI™) contracts for projects engaging in the voluntary collection and use of biogas at individual households and other users with energy from methane. CFI contracts are issued on the basis of emission displacement by end-users who employ clean renewable biogas as a substitute for fossil fuel based sources of cooking fuel such as kerosene or non-renewable biomass.
